Fertility Testing

Management and Treatment Options

Your Fertility Journey Starts Here

Starting a family can come with questions and uncertainty. At NG GyneHealth, we provide fertility testing for both men and women to help you understand your reproductive health and take clear, confident steps forward.

Your care is led by Dr Naguesh Gaunekar and Dr Sally Rodrigues, experienced fertility specialists who have supported Mackay families for over 20 years. Their approach combines compassionate care with advanced medical insight, delivering personalised fertility assessments that are both thorough and reassuring.

Fertility testing may involve hormone evaluations, semen analysis, and cycle tracking, depending on your needs. These assessments allow us to investigate all potential factors, including those that may not show symptoms.

We encourage both partners to take part in testing. This shared approach helps identify contributing factors earlier and gives you a clearer path forward, based on your individual reproductive health.

Understanding all aspects of reproductive health is key to supporting your journey to parenthood.

Our comprehensive fertility assessments are designed for everyone, recognising that successful conception involves both partners.

We offer a variety of tests to diagnose potential barriers to fertility, enabling us to create personalised and effective treatment plans.

These evaluations aim to clarify your reproductive health, helping you make informed decisions about your next steps.

We’re here to support you with expert guidance, reassurance, and compassionate care every step of the way.

Here are our fertility checks

Tubal Patency Check by Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) or Laparoscopy

Depending on your personal medical history and thorough clinical evaluation our fertility specialists Dr Naguesh Gaunekar and Dr Sally Rodrigues will offer the appropriate method to evaluate tubal health:

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

An X-ray procedure that uses a special dye to visualise the fallopian tubes and check for blockages. It’s minimally invasive and performed in a radiology setting.

Laparoscopy

A surgical procedure where a camera is inserted through a small incision in the abdomen to provide a direct view of the fallopian tubes. This approach is more comprehensive and may be recommended if additional diagnostic or treatment interventions are needed.

Tests for Endometriosis and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

We conduct targeted tests to identify conditions like Endometriosis and PCOS, which are common causes of infertility. Diagnostic methods may include blood tests to check hormone levels, transvaginal ultrasound to examine ovarian health, and in some cases, laparoscopy to visually inspect the pelvic organs. Early detection of these conditions helps tailor treatment to enhance fertility outcomes.

When navigating fertility challenges related to Endometriosis or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), having the right information can be empowering. Our comprehensive guides provide insights into managing symptoms, exploring treatment options, and coping with the emotional aspects of fertility:

Fertility Ultrasound for Dynamic Assessment

Our fertility ultrasound services provide an in-depth, dynamic evaluation of reproductive organs, including:

Uterus and Endometrium

Checking for abnormalities like fibroids, polyps, or irregularities in the uterine lining that may impact implantation.

Ovaries and Ovulation

Assessing ovarian structure, follicle count, and signs of ovulation to better understand ovarian function.

Pelvic and Tubal Health

Identifying any structural concerns or abnormalities that could affect tubal or pelvic health, which are essential for successful conception.

Semen Tests

Semen analysis is a fundamental aspect of male fertility assessment. It evaluates sperm count, motility (movement), morphology (shape), and overall semen quality. This simple yet critical test provides insights into male reproductive health and helps identify any potential barriers to conception.

Assessment of Lifestyle Factors, Age, and Ovarian Reserve

Fertility can be affected by lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, stress, and alcohol or tobacco use. We assess these elements along with age and ovarian reserve through blood tests measuring hormones like AMH (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) and FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone). This comprehensive evaluation offers insights into reproductive potential and guides personalised fertility planning.

Tests for Genetic Conditions

Genetic testing can help identify inherited conditions that may affect fertility or be passed on to future children. We offer screening and diagnostic tests to assess potential genetic factors, ensuring you have a clear understanding of any genetic risks and enabling informed family planning.

Diet & Exercise

A balanced diet, regular exercise, and proper hydration are key to supporting hormonal balance and ovulation. Aim for a nutritious eating plan, moderate physical activity, and adequate water intake to maintain overall reproductive health.

Quit Smoking, Vaping
& Recreational Drugs

Tobacco, vaping, and recreational drugs can reduce fertility and impact pregnancy health. Quitting these substances not only supports better reproductive health but also improves overall wellbeing. Seek support or resources to help make quitting easier.

Limit Alcohol Intake

Excessive alcohol can disrupt hormonal balance and interfere with egg implantation. Reducing alcohol intake not only supports fertility but also offers other health benefits, including improved liver function, better sleep, and increased energy.

Reduce exposure to Chemicals & Toxins

Harmful chemicals and toxins can disrupt hormone balance. Minimise contact with pesticides, heavy metals, and certain personal care products to support fertility. Opt for organic foods and use BPA-free containers to reduce exposure.

Manage Body Temperature

Maintain a comfortable body temperature to promote hormonal balance and reproductive health. Although the effect of overheating on female fertility isn’t as direct as it is for men, keeping the body cool during exercise and avoiding saunas or hot baths can still be beneficial.

Manage Stress

Chronic stress can disrupt hormone levels, affecting ovulation and overall fertility. Incorporate stress-relieving activities such as yoga, meditation, regular walks, or hobbies that promote relaxation.

Prioritise Quality Sleep

Adequate sleep is essential for hormonal balance and reproductive health. Aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night to support fertility and overall wellbeing.

Monitor Ovulation & Menstrual Health

Tracking your menstrual cycle helps identify fertile windows, irregularities, and possible underlying conditions affecting fertility. Use ovulation prediction tools or consult with a healthcare provider for guidance.

Regular Health & Medication Reviews

Routine healthcare visits are key to maintaining reproductive health. Discuss your medications and supplements to ensure they're safe for conception. Regular check-ups help identify fertility issues, manage hormone levels, and address conditions affecting your ability to conceive.

Diet & Exercise

A balanced diet, regular exercise, and staying well-hydrated are essential for maintaining sperm health. Aim for a nutritious eating plan, consistent physical activity, and adequate water intake to support overall reproductive health.

Quit Smoking, Vaping & Recreational Drugs

Tobacco, vaping, and recreational drugs, including marijuana and anabolic steroids, can significantly harm sperm quality and overall fertility. Quitting these substances not only supports better sperm health but also improves your general wellbeing. Consider seeking support or resources to help make quitting easier.

Limit Alcohol Intake

Excessive alcohol can impact sperm quality and hormone balance. Reducing your alcohol intake not only supports fertility but also benefits your overall health, including improved liver function, better sleep, and increased energy. Try to limit your intake or opt for alcohol-free alternatives when possible.

Reduce exposure to Chemicals & Toxins

Exposure to harmful chemicals and toxins can negatively impact sperm quality. Be cautious of your environment and try to minimise contact with pesticides, heavy metals, and other toxic substances.

Avoid Overheating

High temperatures can harm sperm production. Keeping the testicles cool supports optimal sperm production. Avoid tight underwear, hot baths, hot tubs, prolonged sitting, and laptops on your lap. Wear looser clothing and take breaks from sitting to maintain a cooler environment.

Manage Stress

Chronic stress can affect hormone levels and sperm production. To support your fertility, try incorporating stress-relieving activities into your routine, like yoga, meditation, regular walks, or any hobbies that help you relax.

Prioritise Quality Sleep

Getting enough sleep is vital for overall health, hormonal balance, and healthy sperm production. Aim for 7-9 hours of restful sleep each night to support both your fertility and general wellbeing.

Manage Ejaculation Frequency

While frequent ejaculation doesn’t impact long-term fertility, it can temporarily reduce sperm count in subsequent ejaculations. If trying to conceive, spacing ejaculation every 2-3 days may help increase sperm count during intercourse. Regular ejaculation also helps clear out older sperm, promoting overall sperm health.

Regular Health Check-Ups

Regular healthcare visits are key to maintaining fertility. Discuss medications to ensure they don't affect sperm production. Regular check-ups help manage health issues, including hormone imbalances. Monitoring testosterone levels provides insights into your reproductive health and supports better sperm production. Stay proactive to boost your fertility potential.
